The Western Hockey League (WHL) is one of North America’s premier major junior hockey leagues, developing top players on the path to college and professional hockey

Flagstaff Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) is proud to celebrate former Northstars player Drew Smith, who has officially signed a Scholarship & Development Agreement with the Wenatchee Wild (Western Hockey League).

Drew played with the Flagstaff Northstars from 2011-2020 before continuing his hockey journey at higher levels of competition with the Jr. Coyotes in Phoenix. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to the game have earned him a spot with the Wenatchee Wild, a major junior hockey team competing in one of North America’s premier development leagues.

The WHL is part of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), widely recognized as a key pathway for young athletes aspiring to collegiate and professional hockey careers, including the NHL. Signing a Scholarship & Development Agreement allows Drew to continue developing his skills while maintaining educational opportunities.

Drew’s accomplishment is an inspiration to current and future players in the Flagstaff hockey community. We are proud to count him as part of the Northstars family and look forward to following his continued success on and off the ice.

Congratulations, Drew! Go Northstars!
